The ships are starting to arrive

Maritime Ipswich 2013 takes place this weekend along the waterfront. This year’s Maritime festival ties in with the 200th anniversary of Captain Broke who was born just outside Ipswich and lived at Broke Hall, Nacton.

I can’t find a lot of the detail but there will be historic ships visiting, a Beer festival and craft markets, etc. Worth coming down to the Wet Dock for.

The first arrival is our old friend Thalatta – an historic Thames Barge.

You can see how clam it is out there this morning by both the almost perfect reflection in the water and the Bob just hanging on its staff.

  1. It appears to be very difficult to find out what is going to happen at the Maritime Festival but the best guide seems to be pages 18 onwards of the ‘celebrate Ipswich’ brochure
