High Tide

They warned us that we would be hit by a surge at high tide last night. I checked around high tide at 1 o’clock and the wet dock seemed to be OK. However this image shows the other end of the dock. It appears that the surge went down the New Cut and flooded around Stoke Bridge and the Dance Studio

At this morning’s high tide, I checked out the situation and, as you can see in this image, the water level was really high. You can also see that the lock has its protective gates closed. If you look out in the port, you can also see how high the water is to the banks. It seems that the worst is over now, thank goodness.

To finish off, here is a nice picture, I took the other night – sorry – yet another sunset but I really can’t resist them, at least whilst there is so little activity going on in the dock itself.
